Stephen “Steve” F. Hicks, 68, of 2010 Red Bank Rd., Mifflinburg, for the past 12 years, entered into rest at 11:35 a.m., Sunday, March 12, 2017, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
He was born July 9, 1948, in Mount Union, a son of the late Raymond and Susan (Toker) Hicks. On April 14, 2001, he married the former Esther K. Straub, who survives.
Steve served in the Marine Corps in Viet Nam from November 1, 1968 until his honorable discharge January 20, 1970. He was awarded with a Purple Heart Medal.
He was employed at Milton Steel for many years, and later worked for Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
Steve attended the United Pentecostal Church, Lewisburg.
He was a member of the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410, Mifflinburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1964, and the Marine Corps League.
Steve enjoyed playing cards, working outdoors, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 15 years, are one daughter and son-in-law, Kim and John Rodkey of Mifflinburg; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Earl Hicks of Sunbury, and William and Barbara Hicks of Selinsgrove; three sisters, Betty Fowler of Riverside; Hulda Losch of McAlisterville, and Suzanne Wands of Selinsgrove; three grandchildren, Derek, Madison, and Zayne; 2 step-children, Kim Ruhl and Brandon Ruhl; 4 step-grandchildren, Jeremy, Hope, Alexis, and Julian; extended family, Sandy and Hank Hoover of Mifflinburg, Tina and Randy Englehardt of Mifflinburg, and Ryan and Kate Hoover of Northumberland; and nieces and nephews..
He was preceded in death by one sister, Jeanette Walter.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Steve will be conducted at 5 p.m., Monday, March 20, 2017, at the United Pentecostal Church, 2822 Buffalo Rd., Lewisburg, with Pastor Jason Gann, officiating. Military honors will be conducted at the church by the Mifflinburg American Legion and area veterans.
