LEWISBURG - Steven Ray Sanders, 57, of 255 Aikey Hill Road since 1985, entered into rest at 10:58 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
He was born May 16, 1952, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Ray E. and Beatrice E. (Jarrett) Sanders. On Aug. 31, 1973, in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Mifflinburg, he married the former Ruth I. Yerger, who survives.
Steve was a 1970 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.
Earlier in life, he was employed by the state Forestry Department. From 1971 to 1989, Steve was employed by the Mifflinburg Area School District. He worked independently in cattle artificial insemination from 1973 to 1980. From 1985 to 2007, he owned and operated his dairy farm on Aikey Hill Road, Lewisburg.
Steve enjoyed hunting, especially on Jack's Mountain, Mifflinburg.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 36 years, are one son, Daniel J. Sanders and his fiancee Sarah Beck, of Lewisburg; one daughter, Holly I. Sanders, of Lewisburg; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Joseph E. Sanders, Scott M. and Debbie A. Sanders and Michael P. and Bronwen A. Sanders, all of Mifflinburg; and two nephews, Owen Sanders and Gareth Sanders, both of Mifflinburg.
There will be no public viewing. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Roupp Funeral Home Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg, where a memorial service will be conducted at 2 with the Rev. Fred J. Fields officiating.
