Theodore "Pete" W. Catherman, 92, Mifflinburg

Theodore "Pete" Woodrow Catherman, 92, of 35 E. Maple St., for the past 42 years, entered into rest at 1:41 a.m., Saturday, December 3, 2011, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

He was born April 28, 1919, in Millmont, a son of the late Clayton and Sevila (Hackenburg) Catherman. On June 15, 1942, in Frederick, Maryland, he married the love of his life, the former Carolyn L. McClintock, who survives.

Pete was a 1937 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.

While in school and in his younger adult years, he participated in soccer, baseball, and band. His love of music was passed down to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, making three generations of his family that played the trombone.

Pete attended all of his family's choral and band concerts, competitions, equestrian meets, football, and baseball games that he could.

He was a member of the Christ United Lutheran Church, Millmont.

Pete farmed all of his life until the age of 50. He then worked as a bridge builder for Faylor Middle Creeek, Winfield, until he retired at the age of 65. In his retirement years, he enjoyed building furniture for his family and friends.

Love for his family was Pete's first priority. Hunting was another passion of his, and was an active hunter for 80 years, with his last hunting trip the week of November 25, 2011. Pete was one of the founding organizers and builders of the Beech Tree Huning Camp in Tioga County.

He was a lifetime member of the Buffalo Valley Sportsmen's Club, Mifflinburg, National Rifle Association, and the North American Hunting Club.

Pete was a most compassionate and loving husband, father, uncle. He opened his home to all those he loved.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 69 years, are one daughter, Carol A. McJilton of Mifflinburg; one son, Forrest L. and his wife Denise McClintock of Catawissa; three grandchildren, Karla R. and her husband Jeff Benfer of Winfield, Scott P. McJilton and his girlfriend Veronica Hudon of Mifflinburg, and Shawn McClintock of Catawissa; four great grandchildren, Sean, Garrett, and Katelyn Benfer, and Gabrielle McClintock; one adored niece, Barb and her husband Roger Miller of Penns Creek; and numberous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Shannon McClintock; two sisters, Ruth Shoemaker, and Rhoda Hartley; and one son-in-law, Paul H. McJilton.

Family and friends are welcome from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the Christ United Lutheran Church, 13765 Old Turnpike Rd., Millmont, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Rev. John Yost, officiating.

Burial will be in the Mifflinburg Cemetery.
