Thomas J. Beatty, 81, Lewisburg

Thomas J. Beatty, 81, of 2003 Madison Avenue, Lewisburg, since 2002, formerly of Fishhook Rd, Oxford, Maine, entered into rest at 6:25 a.m., Saturday, February 18, 2012, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.

Tom, as he preferred to be called, was born March 21, 1930, in Newark, NJ, a son of the late Thomas A. and Theresa M. Beatty. On September 19, 1953, he married the former Joanne Richards, who survives.

Tom earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Rutgers University, and served in the Marine Corps from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1953.

Tom retired as Vice President of Prudential Insurance, where he was responsible for Prudential's Governmental Health Programs a�" Medicare/Medicaid.

He was a member of the St. George Catholic Church, Mifflinburg.

Tom was a member of the Governor's task force for New Jersey Medicaid; served on the US Health and Human Services Fiscal Intermediary and Carrier Committees.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Kathleen Beatty of Wellesley, MA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Mike Miragliuolo of Lumberton, NJ, and Sharon and Nick Klose of Lewisburg; four granddaughters, Crystal, Amber, Amelia, and Rachel; and two great grandchildren, Freddie and Zayla.

A private memorial service will be conducted at the convenience of Tom's immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the Far Point Collie Rescue, 1035 Red Hill Rd., Port Trevorton, PA 17864, or the Union County Public Library, 255 Reitz Blvd., Lewisburg, PA 17837.

Funeral arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
