Thomas J. McArdle, 79, New Berlin
Thomas John McArdle, 79, of 405 Risso Lane, since 2004, entered into rest at 9:10 a.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born May 27, 1934, in New York City, a son of the late Edward and Emily (Bingold) McArdle. On June 10, 1989, in Brooklyn, New York, he married the former Pamela J. Buck, who survives.
Thomas served in the Army as a Private First Class from March 11, 1957 until his honorable discharge on February 28, 1963.
He was employed as a Real Estate Tax Assessor and Commissioner for the City of New York. Thomas later owned and operated his own real estate appraisal business in New York City.
Thomas was a member and past president of the New Berlin American Legion Post 957.
He enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City, music, playing the trumpet, and was proud to play taps for returning veterans during World War II at St. Patrick's Cathedral. Thomas was a New York Yankee fan and New York Giants fan. He served as an alter boy throughout his youth, and was a Civil War enthusiast. Thomas adored his Labrador retrievers, "Guinness" and "Bailey".
Surviving in addition to his wife of 24 years, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Loreen McArdle of Piermont, NY, and Stephen and Toni McArdle of New York City; two daughters and one son-in-law, Suzanne and Rob Short of Austin, TX, and Eileen "Ina" McArdle and her companion Jeffrey Feger of New Berlin; one step-son, Christopher Stominski of Magnolia, TX; two sisters, Dorothy Levy of Port Charlotte, FL, and Mary Chilingirian of Lake Ronkonkoma, NY; 11 grandchildren, Kailee and Collin McArdle, Robby and Stephanie Short, Miles, Julia, and Adam McArdle-Coe, and Wil, Ben, Luke, and Leo Coburn-McArdle; also surviving are his childrens' mother, Jeanne M. McArdle of Lewisburg.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, James, and Robert McArdle.
Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, at the Sacred Heart Church, 41 S. 8th St., Lewisburg, with Rev. Msgr. William M. Richardson, celebrant.
Burial will be in the New Berlin Cemetery, with military honors by the New Berlin American Legion Post 957.
