Vincent M. Harris, 64, Mifflinburg
Vincent "Vince" M. Harris, 64, of 1701 Pine Bark Lane, since 1993, formerly of Wilkes Barrie, entered into rest on Tuesday, December 14, 2010, due to complications in surgery, at the Veterens Medical Center, Manhattan, New York City.
He was born September 28, 1946, in Wilkes Barre, a son of the late Vincent M. and Bessie (Zimmerman) Harris.
He was a 1965 graduate of G.A.R. High School, where he earned a varsity letter in track.
After high school, Vince enlisted in the Army and served during the Viet Nam War from January 10, 1966 until his honorable discharge December 21, 1968.
He was employed at Milton Steel, for 20 years, Wood Mode, Middleburg, Leer's Truck Caps, Milton, and Wal-Mart, Lewisburg.
Vince was president of the Central Susquehanna Valley Veterans Council, past commander and past quarter master of the Mifflinburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1964, and member of the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410..
He was very active in area veterans functions and enjoyed assisting with the veterans honor guard, and visiting veterans in V.A. Hospitals.
Surviving are his long time companion, Connie DeFacis, of Mifflinburg; one brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Ona Harris of Wilkes Barre; and one sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Raymond Slater of Wilkes Barre; and many extended, loving family.
Family and friends are welcome from noon to 1 p.m., Monday, at the Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren, 46 Brethren Church Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m., with Rev. Randall C. Fiske, officiating.
Burial will be in the Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren Cemetery, with military honors by the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410.
Funeral arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
