MIFFLINBURG - Violet Fleeda Cannon, 81, of 205 Shrawder Road for 23 years and a resident of Buffalo Township for more than 62 years, entered into rest at 6:35 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born March 28, 1928, in New Columbia, a daughter of the late Elmer G. and Carrie B. (Platt) Clayton. On April 18, 1947, in Lewisburg, she married John E. Cannon, who preceded her in death Jan. 18, 2005.
Violet attended Milton schools.
She enjoyed cooking and vegetable and flower gardening at her home.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Harold E. and Janice Cannon, of Forty Fort; one daughter, Barbara A. Neuer, of Lewisburg; two grandchildren, Todd M. and his wife Bonnie Oberdorf, of New Columbia, and Lisa S. Oberdorf, of Philadelphia; two stepgrandchildren, Harry R. Neuer Jr., of Lewisburg, and Joseph R. Neuer and his wife Theresa, of Fredericksburg, Va.; two sisters, Martha Lilley, of New Columbia, and Dorothy Delany, of Lewisburg; one sister-in-law, Ethelda Clayton, of Milton; one brother-in-law, Alfred Frantz, of Milton; and one special pug puppy, Peanut.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna F. Oberdorf; one brother, George Clayton; and four sisters, Ruth Beck, Mary Frantz, Bertha Smith and Jennie Berge.
Visitors may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Roupp Funeral Home Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 with Pastor Dick DeVett officiating.
Burial will be in Mazeppa Union Cemetery.
