Wilbur "Wil" L. Ritter, 85, Mifflinburg

Wilbur "Wil" Lawrence Ritter, 85, of 138 Meadow Green Drive, for the past 10 years, entered into rest at 9:00 p.m., Saturday, December 17, 2011, in the presence of his loving family, at his home.

He was born March 31, 1926, in Watsontown, son of the late Wilbur L., Sr. and Annie J. (Ellis) Ritter. On May 17, 1952, in the St. John's Lutheran Church, Mayberry Township, he married the former Louise Pensyl, who survives.

Wil graduated from Watsontown High School.

In 1943, he enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in the Philippines during World War II.

Wil then graduated from Lycoming College in 1950.

He was employed at Glen Gary Brick Company for 19 years, and later by General Dynamics, Pittsburgh, until he retired in 1984.

Wil was a life member of the American Legion Post 323, Watsontown, and a 50 year member of the Watsontown Free & Accepted Masons Lodge # 401.

Wil enjoyed many years of being a Cub Scout Master. He was a past member of the Watsontown Borough Council, and served one term as president.

He was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church, Exchange, where he served on the vestry and was the church treasurer. Wil was most recently a member of the Christ's United Lutheran Church, Millmont.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 59 years, are one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Linda Ritter of Summerville, South Carolina; one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Danny Sakievich of Pensacola, Florida; one sister, Joanne Sennewald of Potomac, Maryland; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon and Bill Ritter; and two sisters, Irene Cole and Eleanor Gottschall.

There will be no public viewing. Family and friends are welcome from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the Christ's United Lutheran Church, 13765 Old Turnpike Rd., Millmont, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Rev. John Yost, officiating.

Burial will be in the Hartleton Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be made to either the Christ's United Lutheran Church, 13765 Old Turnpike Rd., Millmont, PA 17845, or the Evangelical Hospice, 1 Hospital Dr., Lewisburg, PA 17837.

Funeral arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
