LEWISBURG – Willard James Kessler, 81, formerly of Laurelton, entered into rest at 10:10 a.m., Friday, May 29, 2015, at Riverwoods, where he had been a resident since 2011.
He was born October 12, 1933, in Middleburg, a son of the late Cleaver C. and Dorothy A. (Newman) Kessler.
Early in life, Willard worked on his family farm in Snyder County, and then was employed at Furman Foods, Northumberland, and Yorktowne, Mifflinburg, from where he retired in 1989.
He served in the Army, and was stationed in Europe, until his honorable discharge March 5 1962.
Willard was a handy man, and enjoyed helping people, traveling on bus trips, and hunting.
Surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, Jack G. and Patricia Kessler of Mifflinburg; one sister, Thelda I. Bingaman of Mifflinburg; and one sister-in-law, Irene Kessler of Mifflinburg.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Herbert, and John; and eight sisters, Catherine, Arla, Betty, Shirley, Eva, Eudalia, Helen, and Hazel.
Family and friends are welcome from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with Rev. Richard VonNeida, officiating.
Burial will be in the Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
