William Cooper

July 5, 1946 — October 16, 2016

MIFFLINBURG – William Edward “Coop” Cooper, 70, of 114 Fisher Circle, entered into rest at 3:28 p.m., Sunday, October 16, 2016, at his home.

He was born July 5, 1946, in Harrisburg, a son of Doris K. (Knisely) Cooper of Duncannon, and the late Max C. Cooper.  On September 13, 1992, he married the former Leslie G. Tabit, who preceded him in death June 15, 2016.

Coop was a 1964 graduate of Susquenita High School, Duncannon, and a 1968 graduate of Shippensburg University with a degree in Elementary and Special Education.

He and his wife owned and operated Mike and Dots II, restaurant and bar in Mifflinburg for 23 years.  Earlier in life, Coop was a teacher at Waynesboro School District, and worked at the Selinsgrove Center and Laurelton Center.  Most recently, he was employed at David’s Awesome Cookies and Pretzels, Mifflinburg.

Coop enjoyed hunting, playing baseball, and was instrumental in starting the Little League program in Penns Creek.  He enjoyed working hard to support his local Mifflinburg community by organizing many charitable events.

Surviving in addition to his mother, are one son, Aaron M. Cooper and his companion Stephanie Stevens of Monongahela; one daughter, Tracey M. Yohn and her companion Jeff Barlup of Enola; one brother and sister-in-law, Lynn C. and Cathy Cooper of Mechanicsburg; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Suzanne C. and Ron Brown of Marysville, and Joanne C. and Ron Sgrignoli of Enola; and 5 grandchildren, Hannah and Alex Yohn, Bailey and Seth Cooper and Joseph Stepp.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Diane C. Paroda.

Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 5 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, October 25th, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where a memorial service to celebrate Coop’s life will be conducted at 6, with Rev. John Yost, officiating.
