William Usher, Jr.
March 22, 1932 — August 10, 2017
William “Bill” F. Usher, Jr., 85, of 7 Susquehanna Dr., Lewisburg, formerly of Silver Spring, Maryland, entered into rest at 9:06 p.m., Thursday, August 10, 2017, at his home.
He was born March 22, 1932, in Bryn Mawr, a son of the late William F., Sr. and Dorothy (Pryor) Usher. On December 26, 1957, he married the former Mary E. Buchanan, who survives.
Bill was a 1950 graduate of Radnor High School and a 1958 graduate of Villanova University.
He was employed as a Civil Engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh, and later the U.S. Postal Service, Washington, D.C., until he retired in 2000.
Bill enjoyed attending sporting events at both Mifflinburg and Lewisburg School Districts.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 59 years, are one son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Sandra Usher of Frederick, Maryland; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Steve Mathey of Baltimore, Maryland, and Elizabeth and Daniel Baranik of Gibsonville, North Carolina; 11 grandchildren; and one great grandson.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Bill will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 2, 2017, at the Commons at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, 6 Tressler Blvd., Lewisburg. Immediately following the service there will be fellowship and refreshments with the family.
