The primary goal of the coroner is to determine the cause and manner of death, ensuring that all legal requirements are met. They play a critical role when a death occurs under circumstances that need further investigation, or when it is required by law. However, not all deaths require the involvement of a coroner. In fact, there are many situations in which a coroner’s office does not need to be called, and the process of handling the deceased is much more straightforward. When the Coroner is Not Involved In most cases, when a loved one passes away under the care of a doctor, the coroner is not involved. For example: 1.
